Celie Drawing
Celie has definitely taken an interest in creating pictures rather than just scribbles on a page. She also will write words - letters - on a page just because. Here is a picture of a horse, I believe and she wrote the word apple.

A Sign of Thanks
For those that know me well, know that if you ask me my opinion on something, I will tell you. However, you also know that I am not the type to "preach" about one thing or another.
Today, I am not preaching, but feel the need to say a few things.
As I type this, I am sitting at work at the funeral home. It is the visitation of Master Sgt. Adam F. Benjamin of the United States Marine Corp. A soldier that was serving his 4th duty in the Middle East and killed during hostile fire in Afghanistan. He was 34, never married but has a large and loving family.
I have cried everyday since his body has come to the funeral home. So many thoughts and emotions have hit me that it is hard to start from the beginning.
But the one thing that I want to say and make perfectly clear is that I am thankful beyond words can even begin to state for the country that we live in the men and women that give their ultimate for us to have the freedoms that we take for granted on a daily basis.
No matter how you feel about politics or the military - I ask that today, you put it aside. I ask that you show whatever sign of thanks you deem appropriate to pay respect for the freedoms and liberties that you enjoy.
Today, I am wearing a ribbon to honor Adam - I do not know him or his family other than to serve them with during this funeral. I do not know any of the Marines that are paying their respects to a fallen brother or are serving as the honor guard (which is an extremely moving transition to witness).
Hug your loved ones and feel blessed they are near and pay Thanks for all of those that keep us safe.

Jake 1sts
Jake has been a VERY active little boy this last week.
He crawled for the first time - now we can't keep him one place.
And tonight, I witnessed him crawl over the loveseat, pull himself up, stand, take two small steps to the right, fall on his butt and do it all over again.
It won't be long before we might have to get some more gates for other parts of the house.

Jake's Baptism
This past Sunday we had Jake baptized at St. Basil the Great church. Deacon Dave officiated the ceremony. It was a rather private ceremony with just us and a few family members and friends that could come into town.
Jake slept through most of the ceremony. He was like a load of lead bricks in my arms. He didn't even flinch when the water was poured over his head. He was a great little boy.
The ceremony lasted about 25 minutes and Deacon Dave did a fabulous job incorporating and being genuinely gracious to both Celie and Anna. It was a very memorable moment for me.

Drawings & Words by Celie
Celie has taken a new interest in spelling out words. She has also taken an interest in spelling words and actually trying to write her letters with VERY little assistance. She also has been drawing "pictures." (things that can be recognized rather than scribbles on a page. Here are her latest creations.

Watch out!
I think that we are going to have to Jake proof the 1st floor a lot sooner than we thought. He has started to put his knees underneath him and can almost support himself on all fours. He scoots around like a champ, so I do not think it will be long before he is really crawling. Then we are all in a lot of trouble and running around. Maybe I will finally get rid of some of the baby weight.
Jake stats
Bob took Jake to the Drs. for his 6 month visit this past Monday.
He is 27.5" long - 90% height
17.08 lbs. - 50% weight
17.75 cm - head circumference - 50%
The NP said that he is doing great and that we can add a few more things to his diet. She saw his tooth buds, but nothing REALLY popping yet. Poor thing. It isn't easy on him. Bummer. He also got 3 shots, but Bob said that he was a trooper. It was sad to see the little bandaids on his little thighs.

Celie still loves to play Violet Incredible - however, this time she was Violet Cowgirl Incredible making a funny face - Uncle Tom taught her how to do that.

The Incredibles
We had declared movie night and the girls decided to watch The Incredibles. After the movie, Celie said, "Mom, Dad, I have a great idea. I can be Violet, Anna can be Dash, Daddy - you can be Mr. Incredible, and mom, you can be Elasta Girl, and Jake can be Baby Jack Jack, Doesn't that sound like a great idea?" I thought it did considering, it would be wonderful to have a body like Elasta girl - but Celie decided that she wanted a mask - that we ALL needed masks. So, what does a mother do - she tries to download mask patterns to hopefully, curb the need. Nope. It doesn't do. So what does the a Superhero Mom do? She makes masks - for EVERYONE. Here we are - being Super Heros.

YES! I know!!! I have been delinquent in writing. But part of the reason is because I have been trying to get some great pics of Jake. He has the BEST smile. But every time I try to capture it - he moves - see below.

Easter
We spent Easter Sunday at the Farm. We drove down for the day. When we got there, I helped Mrs. O with getting things together for our Easter luncheon. The girls played around. Right before lunch, we had to go outside and make a moss basket for the easter bunny. I guess it is a german tradition. The kids would make a basket or bowl out of moss that was found in the woods and they would leave it for the easter bunny. While they ate or slept, the easter bunny would come and leave colored eggs for the children. So, we had to do this with Aunt Shirley and Aunt Viv. They showed the girls how to make the baskets.
Then we labeled each basket for each one of the kids. And then we went inside to eat our lunch.
When we came out after lunch, this is what we found. The girls used their baskets to gather the eggs.
Here are the girls in front of the beautiful display of daffodils with their eggs from the easter bunny at the farm next to the log house.
After lunch and eggs, we all went for a hike and a ride to Celie's lodge. Afterwards, Nick, Erin & Hallie stopped by and the girls played. It was a good easter and we headed back up the road to get home before it was too late.
Then we labeled each basket for each one of the kids. And then we went inside to eat our lunch.

Long time
I am sorry to my readership for the long delay in posting.
Life has, well, been hectic. I have been working part-time and now full time, but only for a short time. I interviewed with a software company last week and might potentially have another interview happening in the next week or so. It is very frustrating.
Bob will be starting one of his classes he needs for a pre-req on the 26th. It will be M-Thursday nights from 5:45 to 10pm. So, it is going to be a very busy summer.
The girls & Jake are growing like weeds. I plan on posting some pics from Easter and will try to get some more pics of everyone posted in the next couple of days. Please be patient with us.
